Dry forest and woodland. Coast, ranges, tablelands, and ACT.

Notes

Shrub or tree to 20 m tall. Fleshy seed stalks/arils. Bark smooth or fissured. Branchlets more or less cylidndrical with low ridges, hairy, becoming hairless. Young shoots with golden hairs. Leaves alternating up the stems, compound, usually 1 gland on the stalk at the base of, or to about 5 mm below, the lowermost pair of pinnae. Rachis 1.5-13 cm long, with minute, mostly sparse, appressed hairs, or more or less hairless, jugary glands present, 1 or rarely 2 interjugary gland(s) between some or all pairs of pinnae or absent (often on only some leaves). 6-32 pinnae each 1.5-10 cm long and with 28-124 leaflets each 0.2-0.9 cm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, surfaces hairless except along the margins. Flower heads yellow to cream, globular, 20-50 flowered (easiest seen in late buds), 4-8 mm in diameter, in branched and elongated clusters. Flowers most of the year, usually Summer in the ACT.

Family was Mimosaceae.

All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.

Can be difficult to distinguish from Acacia mearnsii when not in flower. Hybridises with both subspecies of Acacia dealbata, at least in the ACT.
