Where found

Swamp forest, swamp woodland, and shrubland near streams. Megalong Valley, Blue Mountains.

Notes

Shrub to 7 m high. Leaves with a distinct mucro. Bark slightly fissured and flaking on the trunk, almost papery on the largest stems and trunks. Branchlets hairy to almost hairless. Leaves aromatic when rubbed, alternating up the stems, 3–7 cm long, 5–11 mm wide, leathery, usually hairless, margins and midrib thickened.. Flower spikes 60–120 mm long, 40–55 mm wide, reddish purple, with 20-60 flowers. Individual flowers with 5 petals. Stamen filaments 17–23 mm long. Flowering: early Summer.  

Critically endangered Australia. Critically endangered NSW. Provisions of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 No 63 relating to the protection of protected plants generally also apply to plants that are a threatened species.
