Where found

Forest. Coast and ranges north from Tuross Head.

Notes

Tree to 35 m tall.  Bark ironbark throughout, grey or grey-brown to black, hard or soft, sometimes flaky. Juvenile stems round or square in cross section.  Juvenile leaves opposite each other for 3 to 5 pairs then alternating up the stems, 8-20 cm long, 45-140 mm wide, slightly glossy to dull, green to grey-green.  Adult leaves alternating up the stems, 8.5-18 cm long, 15-50 mm wide, somewhat glossy or dull, green to grey-green.  Flowers white, with 0 petals.  Flower clusters 7-11 flowered, forming compound clusters at the ends of the branchlets.  Mature flower buds 8–17 mm long, caps longer than the bases.  Flowers most of the year.  Gumnuts 5-10 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have protruding valves or valves that are not very noticeable.
