Where found

Dry forest and woodland. Blue Mountains and from Newnes to Wombeyan Caves.

Notes

Prostrate trailing shrub. Leaves alternating along the stems, mostly 3–12 cm long, 20–60 mm wide; margins entire to scalloped; lower surface silky, rarely almost hairless. Flowers with 4 'petals' joined together in pairs, 'petals' light red to maroon, appressed hairy outside, hairless inside. Gynoecium 13–25 mm long; style red, hairless. Flower clusters toothbrush-like to semicylindrical, 2–8 cm long. Flowering: spring to autumn.

In the absence of specific information, seeds of all species of Grevillea have been keyed as having one wing.

Hybridizes with Grevillea acanthifolia subsp. acanthifolia to produce natural hybrids known as Grevillea x gaudichaudii, where the ranges overlap (e.g. Wentworth Falls to Hartley Vale).
