Where found

Forest, mainly on along streams. Coast, ranges, and the eastern part of the tablelands.

Notes

Shrub to 3 m tall. Stems with dense brown to grey, sometimes partly black, hairs. Leaves alternating up the stems, 2-8.5 cm long, 2-9 mm wide, almost flat to moderately arched on each side of a shallowly recessed midrib, margins curved to rolled down, tips rounded to somewhat pointed, mucro short; upper surface green, glossy, hairless, smooth, venation indistinct; lower surface mostly to completely obscured by close, golden-brown curled hairs, midrib hairs dense, dark orange-brown. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, pink or blue to mauve. Standard petal with a yellow to cream spot. Flowers in 1-3 or more flowered clusters. Flowers Winter to Spring.
