Where found

Dry forest, woodland and grassland. Western Slopes, Kosciuszko National Park, the mountains to the north, ACT, tablelands, and the western edge of the ranges.

Notes

Perennial herb to 0.60 m high with a woody taproot. Flower stalks sparsely hairy or almost hairless. Leaves in a basal rosette and alternating up the stems, 2–6.5 cm long, 2–9 mm wide, hairy with coarse rough hairs and short glandular hairs, margins curved down, tips pointed. Flower heads single, 15–25 mm long, 15–35 mm in diameter below the florets, bell-shaped to more or less hemispherical. The bracts tightly pressed to the sides of the flower heads are conspicuous, extend down the flower stalk, and are transparent and papery, with pointed or long drawn out tips. Florets white to yellow. Flowering: mostly spring to summer.

All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
