Where found

Dry forest, heath, shrubland, and rocky areas. Widespread, mainly on the coast and ranges.

Notes

Shrub or small tree to 6 m tall. Bark rough, flaking in thin layers. Stems hairy. Leaves aromatic when rubbed, alternating up the stems, usually 1-2 cm long, 1-6 mm wide, silky, becoming hairless, tips rounded to pointed, with a blunt point; bases tapering or rounded, with a short stalk. Flowers 7-15 mm in diameter, with 5 white petals, single or in pairs. Flowers Spring to Summer. Nuts shed early, mostly 3-6 mm in diameter, surface hairy.
