Notes

Perennial herb to 0.3 m high, densely tufted from a woody base. Stems more or less woolly; lower stems covered with the remains of old leaf bases. Leaves mostly tufted towards the base of the stems, about 2–10 cm long, 1.5–3 mm wide, upper surface dark green, sparsely hairy to almost hairless, lower surface mostly woolly, margins curved down. A few small leaves alternating up the stems. Flower heads with numerous yellow florets, the heads surrounded by pale brown translucent papery bracts. Flower heads broad-hemispherical, 8–15 mm in diameter, single. Flowering: summer.
