Where found

Forest, roadsides and other disturbed sites, rocky areas, and along streams and gullies. Coast, ranges, Kosciuszko National Park, and Western Slopes. Occasionally elsewhere.

Notes

Introduced herb to 2 m high. Stems slightly hairy, brown. Leaves opposite each other, 2–17 cm long, 10–70 mm wide, hairy and with stalkless glands or glandular hairs, rough, veins prominent, margins usually toothed, tips pointed. Flower heads yellow, with about 8 'petals' each 1–2 mm long, 2- or 3-toothed at the tips, and 10-15 florets in the centre. Flower heads 6-13 mm in diameter overall, broadly bell-shaped to hemispherical behind the ‘petals’, sticky. Flower heads in open clusters, often appearing single. Flowering: summer–autumn.
