Notes

Introduced annual herb to 0.35 m high or prostrate. Calyx teeth spiny and erect or only the lower tooth curved down at the seeding stage. Stems striate, zig-zaggy, moderately hairy. Leaves alternating along the stems, compound, with 3 leaflets, each 0.5–1.5 cm long, 3–6 mm wide, appressed-hairy on both surfaces, lateral veins mostly curved back near the margins, margins with minute teeth, tips blunt to rounded with a small notch; stipules membranous, hairy, and green- or purple-veined. Flower heads oval, 7–20 mm long, 7–20 mm wide, few to many-flowered. Individual flowers white or pink, 4-7 mm long, pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, falling early. Calyces surrounding the individual pods at the seeding stage. Flowers mainly Sep.–Dec.
