Anacardiaceae, Malvaceae, Musaceae, Arecaceae, Rutaceae

Distinct resting position, body held at acute angle to surface, legs extended with wings held closely against sides; Limacodinae abdomen covered with long woolly scales, apodemes on sternum 2; forewing chorda absent, MS present and can be branched distally, Sc+R usually anastomosed in distal half, Rs2+Rs3 mostly stalked from Rs4 or Rs1, at times in between Rs1 and Rs4 or Rs4 splits back and connects with discal cell, CuP present and 1A+2A basally forked; hindwing with MS in discal cell, occasionally branched, Rs and M1 mostly stalked beyond discal cell, CuP and 1A+2A not forked and 3A present; male uncus and gnathos stout with a strong hook; female ductus bursae usually very long and spiralled (Common 1990, Kristensen 1999).
