Further Diagnosis

Antennal scape slightly flattened, forming eye-cap; forewing apices markedly produced; reduced maxillary palpi; reduced wing venation; ocelli and chaetosemata absent (Common 1990, Kristensen 1999).

Moths in the tineid genus Opogona have eye caps at the base of their antennae, and may key to here, but can be distinguished from species in the Lyonetiidae by having broader, flattened head and thorax, both of which are covered in flat smooth scales.
