Rhizome dorsiventral, producing fronds in 2 rows. Lamina (4.3–) 5.8–10 (–12.8) cm long, 7–15 (–20) mm wide; pinnae in (12–) 17–25 (–31) pairs; longest pinnae (3–) 5–9 (–13) mm long, 1–4 mm wide, apically obtuse to ±acute, thinly coriaceous to coriaceous; margins usually entire; hairs dark red-brown, simple, eglandular, 0.2–0.7 mm long, abaxially on rachis, sometimes adaxially on rachis and pinna midvein and marginal and abaxially on lamina. Sori on (4–) 9–19 (–27) pairs of pinnae.
Endemic to NE QLD between Iron Range and Paluma.
Epiphytic and lithophytic in low to upper montane rainforest, usually near creeks or in high rainfall areas.
Ctenopteris gordonii has simple hairs on the abaxial surface of the lamina differing from Ctenopteris blechnoides whichhas branched and simple hairs on the abaxial surface of the lamina,
