Description

Rhizome short-creeping, c. 1 mm diam.; scales to c. 2.5 mm long, pale yellow. Fronds strongly dimorphic. Stipes clustered, stramineous. Lamina 1-pinnate to partly or fully 2-pinnate at base, narrowly oblong to ±linear. Sterile lamina c. 15–40 mm long and 7–15 mm wide, half to twice the length of the stipe. Sterile pinnules mostly flabellate, shortly stalked, to 10 mm long and 17 mm wide, thinly herbaceous; lateral margins concave, entire; outer margin rounded, crenate or more deeply incised. Fertile lamina erect, rigid, 35–80 mm long, 10–15 mm wide, as along as or to less than half the length of stipe. Fertile pinnules distant, flabellate to cuneate, shortly stalked, c. 4 mm long and 5 mm wide; lateral margins concave; outer margin concave to convex. Veins free, forked 1–3 times. Sori continuous or broken at marginal incisions; indusium 0.5–0.7 mm wide, extending almost to margin, greenish, slightly irregular to deeply cleft. Spores trilete, pale brown, smooth.

Distribution

Endemic to E QLD with records from the Mt Windsor Tableland and Herberton Range in NE QLD.

Habit and habitat

Terrestrial in open woodland and heath, usually on oligotrophic soils.
