Description

Rhizome erect. Fronds c. 0.3 mm apart. Stipe with whitish to pale red-brown simple eglandular hairs 0.1–0.2 mm long. Lamina 2.6–10 cm or more long, 4–7 mm wide, membranous, with whitish to pale red-brown simple eglandular hairs throughout, and forked hairs abaxially on midvein; hairs 0.1–0.2 mm long; veins visible in transmitted light, with hydathodes. Sori rounded, 1–32 or more pairs, in distal half to three-quarters of lamina. Sporangia setose; thickened annulus cells 10–12 (–13). Spores 25–33 µm diam.

Distribution

Known only from the type locality on Mt Finnegan, NE QLD.

Habit and habitat

Epiphytic and lithophytic among moss in upper-montane high-rainfall rainforest.

Natural history

Named after botanist Leonard J. Brass who collected the Type.
