Rhizome short, erect. Fronds to c. 1.7 m long. Stipe to 70 cm long, glabrescent, with narrow thick basal scales to 7 mm long. Lamina to 100 cm long; basal pinnae with stalks 3–5 mm long; distal pinnae sessile; largest pinnae c. 25 cm long, 5 cm wide, caudate-acuminate (cauda 2.5–5 cm long), lobed to 1–1.5 mm from costa; aerophores elongate; costules 5–7 mm apart, each with a small swelling at the base; veins to 25 pairs; basal acroscopic veins passing to the sides of sinus membranes; lower surface of costae and costules with sparse brown hairs; upper surface of rachis and costae with short dark hairs. Sori near costules; indusium small, glabrous, caducous; sporangia bearing small red glands. 

Wet Tropics of NE QLD in the Johnstone and Russell River valleys. Also in Malesia.

Terrestrial on creek banks in high rainfall lower montane vine forest.

A rare and localised species in Australia.
