Urban bushland, woodland, shady sites, and along streams. Coastal north from the Nowra district.
Introduced perennial herb to 1 m high, rhizomatous, and with numerous white fleshy roots. Leaves alternating up the stems, or in loose clusters, 3–10 cm long, 10–35 mm wide, soft-textured, surfaces often slightly glaucous, tips blunt or pointed. Flowers dark red below, pale yellowish green above, with green stripes and dark purplish blotches, with 6 'petals', each 40–70 mm long, overlapping to form a funnel or narrow tube. Flowers in few- to many-flowered clusters. Flowering: November–May.
