Where found

Weed of dry forest, woodland, grassy areas, cultivation, and disturbed sites. Mostly Sydney area and Blue Mountains. Sporadic elsewhere.

Notes

Introduced perennial herb to 1.3 m tall. Stems hairless. Leaves basal and alternating up the stems. Basal leaves 1-15 cm long, compound, with 3-5 leaflets, each 1-6 cm long, 2-20 mm wide, upper stem leaves smaller and much narrower in proportion, all except the uppermost leaves with toothed margins. Leaves not fern-like. Flowers in clusters 30-70 mm in diameter. Individual flowers about 3 mm in diameter, with 5 white petals. 'Seeds' with no spines. Flowers most of the year, mainly Spring to Summer.
