Damp or shaded places, often near streams. Coast and ranges north of Bega.
Perennial herb to about 0.2 m high. Leaves alternating up the stems, 2–5 cm long, 5–15 mm wide, with a sheath at the base, upper surface a different colour from lower surface, surfaces hairless to rough with minute projections. Flowers white, with 3 'petals' each 2–4 mm long. Usually 3 stamens producing pollen and 2-3 staminodes not producing pollen. Filaments of the stamens not bearded. Flowers in few-flowered clusters 1–2.5 cm long, not enclosed in a spathe-like bract. Flowering: December–March. Seed cases dry, green to brown.
