Forestwoodland, and along streams. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands.

Notes

Straggling shrub or climber to 5 m high. Stems 4-angled, hairless, with raised lenticels. Leaves opposite each other, 3-10 cm long, 15–40 mm wide, green and glossy, lower surface paler, margins scalloped to toothed. Flowers clove-scented. Flowers with 0 or 4 petals, and 4 petal-like sepals. Petals, if present, cream, 1–3 mm long, Sepals greenish white to pale green, sometimes tinged reddish, 5–12 mm long. Flowers single or in few-flowered clusters. Flowers Spring.

Family was Cunoniaceae.
