Perennial herb to 0.15 m tall or prostrate, rooting from the nodes, usually mat-forming. Stems wiry, hairy, with the dried brown remains of old leaves at the base. Leaves mostly in a basal rosette, basal leaves 0.6–1.5 cm long, 1.5–6 mm wide, stem leaves 1-10, becoming smaller upwards and becoming scale-like. Leaves silvery or whitish, densely hairy on both surfaces, tips usually blunt, sometimes pointed. Flower heads 5-6 mm long, about 2–4 mm in diameter, oval or hemispherical, usually single, sometimes up to about 7 together. 0 petals. Bracts surrounding the flower heads 3.8–6 mm long; green to pale brown, margins clear or or tinged reddish purple.
All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
