Woodland and shrubland, usually among rocks in damp situations or on river banks. Tablelands and ACT.
Perennial herb or shrub to 0.3 m tall with a woody rootstock. Stems rigid, angular, rough hairy with minute hairs, particularly on the angles. Leaves in whorls of 4, one pair smaller than the other, 0.1–0.5 cm long, 0.3-3 mm wide, more or less appressed against the stems, midrib broad, surfaces hairless or sparsely rough, with a tuft of bristly hairs at the tip, tips more or less blunt. Male and female flowers on separate plants. Flowers white to pale yellow, 2-3 mm in diameter, tubular, with 4 lobes. Flowers in clusters of 1-3 flowers. Flowering: spring–autumn.

Endangered Vic. Listed in the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act, Vic.
