Wet forest in moist gullies. Ranges and eastern edge of the tablelands north of Kangaroo Valley. Coastal north from Sydney. Doubtfully naturalised in the ACT.
Shrub to 2 m high. Branches white to brown stellate hairy (needs a hand lens or a macro app on your phone/tablet to see). Leaves aromatic when rubbed, alternating up the stems, 3–9 cm long, 8–30 mm wide, tips blunt to pointed, upper surface hairless and smooth, lower surface white to brownish stellate-hairy. Flowers white to cream, brown stellate-hairy outside, with 5 petals each 5–6 mm long, usually in clusters of several flowers. Flowering: spring.
