Wet forest or rainforest margins. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands. Occasional elsewhere.
Shrub to 9 m high. Younger branches stellate hairy (needs a hand lens or a macro app on your phone/tablet to see). Leaves alternating up the stems, 8–22 cm long, 20–80 mm wide, sometimes peltate, upper surface smooth, rich mid-green, sometimes shiny; lower surface with a close, thin covering of hairs, the reticulate veins evident through the hairs; margins sometimes slightly wavy. Flowers small, with 5 petals, yellowish green to cream. Petals turned back. Flower clusters to about 30 cm long. Flowers Spring to Summer.
