Woodland and heath in exposed sites, a single plant often parasitic on the roots of many nearby plants. Blue Mountains.
Shrub to 2 m high. Fruit fleshy. Leaves opposite each other, 2–5 cm long, 6–14 mm wide, tips blunt. Flowers sweetly scented, with 6-8 yellow petals, each about 6 mm long. Flowers in 2–8-flowered clusters, shorter than the leaves. Flowering: spring–summer. Fruit red when ripe, oblong oval, about 15 mm long.
