Where found

Mallee, shrubland, heath, and sedgeland. One population known, containing 14 individuals. Jervis Bay near Vincentia.

Notes

Shrub to 0.7 5 m high, 1–2 m wide, semi-prostrate. Young stems densely hairy, gradually becoming almost hairless after about 3–4 years. Leaves whorled, 1.2–4.7 cm long, 2–6.5 mm wide, lower surface densely hairy, margins entire or with 1–6 teeth or undulations, tips rounded to squared off. Flower heads 75–167 mm long, of many flowers. Individual flowers yellow or cream with white to beige hairs, to orange with brownish hairs, with 4 'petals' joined together for 19–25 mm when flowers are fully open, free lobes 2.5–4 mm long. Style hooked at the tip, grading from green to red to black. Style 26–35 mm long from the ovary to the bend, 5–7 mm long from the bend to the tip. Cones 75–167 mm long, about 40-43 mm wide. Flowers April-June. Seeds with one wing.
