Forest, rocky areas, and wet gullies. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands.
Shrub or tree to 6 m high. Leaves alternating up the stems, 3–8 cm long, 7–20 mm wide, upper surface dark green, hairless and sometimes sticky, lower surface white-hairy. Male and female flowers on different plants or on the same plant. Flowers with 5 overlapping hairy 'petals' each 4–5 mm long. Male flowers 2 or 3 together, female flowers single. Flowering: summer-autumn. Seed cases 8–10 mm long, densely bristly hairy with translucent hairs.
