Moist heath in sandy situations. Coast, and occasionally ranges, north of Berry.
Shrub to 1.5 m high. Branchlets with 2 grooves separated by the ridges formed by the leaf bases continuing down the stems, and hairless or rarely sparsely hairy with simple hairs. Leaves strongly aromatic when rubbed, crowded, 0.7–1.8 cm long, 5–9 mm wide, hairless, thick, often red-tinged, margins finely toothed, tips pointed. Flowers bright pink, with 4 petals each 7–11 mm long. Petals overlapping each other in bud, falling early. 8 stamens. Flowers in 1–4-flowered clusters. Flowering: August–October.
