Dry forest, woodland, heath, and grassy areas. Widespread.
Shrub to 2 m high. Branchlets hairless to hairy or rough. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.35–1.5 cm long, 1.7–4.5 mm wide, upper surface glossy, lower surface dull and paler, sufaces hairless or hairy, tips blunt with a thickened tip. Flowers sweet scented, white to cream; tubular, the tube cylindrical or flask-shaped, 3–10 mm long; with 5 lobes 1.8–3 mm long, overlapping each other in bud. Flowers usually single, sometimes in clusters. Fruit green to yellow-brown. Flowering: mainly August–December.
