Where found

Swamps and seepage areas in alpine and subalpine herbfields and grassland, and stream banks. Kosciuszko National Park. Occasionally tablelands to the east of Koscuszko National Park.

Notes

Clumping perennial herb to 0.2 m high, stoloniferous. Scapes hairy to stcky hairy. Leaves mainly in basal clusters, 1-9 cm long, 1.8-3.5 mm wide, mostly hairless, mostly entire, some leaves with 1–6 lobes, margins membranous. Flower heads with white 'petals' about 10-15 mm long, and yellow centres 10-17 mm in diameter. Bracts appressed to the flower heads about 20-30. Flower heads single. Flowers Dec.–Apr.

Definite identification of most species of Brachyscome depends on microscopic examination of the seeds.
