Heath and grassland at high altitudes. Kosciuszko National Park. rarely elsewhere.
Perennial herb to 0.2 m high with a branched rhizome. Hairless. Leaves crowded at the base, to about 15 cm long; about 1–2 mm wide, linear, with a papery sheath at the base. Flowers greenish white, with 6 'petals' each 3–4.5 mm long. Flowers in clusters of 1–4 along flower stalks to about 10 cm long. Flowering: spring–summer.
