Tree or shrub to 25 m tall. Bark smooth on smaller trees, scaly in larger trees. Young stems often reddish, hairy with long hairs. Leaves opposite each other, 4–12 cm long, 20–50 mm wide, margins coarsely toothed; upper surface dark green and almost hairless, lower surface generally white-hairy, sometimes with some rusty hairs. Flower heads white to creamy yellow, 10–20 mm in diameter. Inflorescences in the upper axils. Flowering: spring.
