Grassy areas in alpine and sub-alpine areas. Kosciuszko National Park, the mountains to the north, and ACT.
Perennial herb with stems growing along the ground, rooting at the nodes and producing erect unbranched flowering stems to 0.3 m high. Basal leaves single along the stems, sometimes a few clustered at the base of the flowering stem, to 15 cm long, sometimes compound, with 2 or 4 lateral leaflets and a terminal leaflet. Stem leaves alternating up the stems, to 6 cm long, deeply dissected or compound. Flowers with 4 petals, white or pink on both sides, or pink on the outside, 6–11 mm long. 6 stamens. Flowers in many-flowered clusters. Flowers late spring to summer.
