Weed of lawns, disturbed sites, and waste places. Widespread.
Introduced annual herb to 0.45 m tall, or sprawling, hairy with glandular and simple hairs. Leaves opposite each other, 0.5–2.5 cm long, 3–18 mm wide. Flowers with 5 notched white petals, longer than or equal to the sepals. Sepals 3–5 mm long. Petals rarely absent. Flowers in a dense cluster. Flowering: late winter to summer.
