Forest, woodland, heath, grassy areas, and disturbed sites. Sydney area and the Blue Mountains. Coastal south from Sydney.
Introduced perennial herb to about 0.60 m high. Leaves basal, 20–45 cm long, 6–25 mm wide, flat to somewhat folded lengthwise. Flowers 15–20 mm in diameter, with 6 'petals' each 6–9 mm long, green to white. Flowers in 1–6 flowered clusters, most not opening, in an inflorescence 30-75 cm long. Flowering: summer.
A cultivar with variegated leaves (Chlorophytum comosum 'Vittatum') is very common among cultivated and naturalised populations.
Family Anthericaceae in NSW.
