Mossy rock ledges and crevices, damp shady places, moist sites along streams, winter-wet soils, and wet swampy habitats. Mainly tablelands, ACT, and the Western Slopes. Occasionally elsewhere.
Introduced annual herb to 0.08 m high, hairless, stems sometimes ridged or angular. Leaves basal and opposite each other, 0.2–1 cm long, 1–3 mm wide. Basal leaves often withering early. Flowers yellow; funnel-shaped, the tube 4–8 mm long, with 4 lobes 1.5–3 mm long. Calyx cup-shaped, strongly Flowers mostly single, sometimes a few together. Flowering: spring.
