Rainforest and moist sheltered gullies. Coast and ranges north of Batemans Bay.
Tree to 50 m high. Fruit fleshy. Trunk channelled. Bark light to grey-brown, finely fissured and corky. Branchlets with appressed brownish hairs, soon becoming hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems, 5–15 cm long, 30–70 mm wide, hairless, upper surface glossy, lower surface paler, margins entire, domatia on the lower surface small, pocket-like, in the vein angles along the midrib (handlens/macro app on your mobile phone needed). Male and female flowers on different plants. Flowers white, or creamy green to yellow, with 5 petals each 4–5 mm long, Flower clusters 5–15 cm long. Flowering: May–September. Fruit black, globular to oval, 15-25 mm long.
