Heath, very low shrubland in alpine feldmark, grassland, and herbfields, sometimes a colonizer of disturbed areas. Moist alpine areas. Kosciuszko National Park.
Tufted perennial herb to 0.1 m tall, sometimes forming clumps to 9 cm diameter, hairless. Leaves opposite each other, crowded, 1.5–6 cm long, 0.5-1.5 mm wide, soft, grass-like, somewhat limp, tips pointed, midrib raised on the underside. Flowers with 5 broad-triangular sepals 2.5-4 mm long, persisitng at the seeding stage, and 0 petals. Flowers single. Flowering: summer.
