Grassland, herbfields, very low shrubland in alpine feldmark, and disturbed areas. Kosciuszko National Park. One sighting from east of Cooma.
Perennial herb with leaves spreading, forming cushions about 2-10 cm diameter, sometimes forming dense, matted turfs. Hairless. Leaves and sepals with sharp tips. Leaves opposite each other, about 0.25-0.65 cm long, rigid, spreading, channelled above, convex below; with thickened margins, and a prominently keeled midrib. Flowers with 4-6 erect sepals free from each other, about 1.5-3.5 mm long. 0 petals. Stalks just below the flowers 1–2 mm long, thickened, shorter than the calyx. Flowers single. Flowering: summer.
