Shrub to 1m tall. Stems approximately cylindrical, ribbed, hairy, somewhat sticky, becoming rough. Leaves alternating up the stems, 1–4 cm long, 1–8 mm wide, mostly linear, 1–2 mm wide, margins entire or nearly so, rolled down, or sometimes the leaves 2–8 mm wide with the margins more or less toothed, upper surface with glandular hairs or more or less hairless, lower surface hairless or sparsely hairy. Flowers blue, or mauve to pinkish purple, 10–20 mm long, tubular, the tube slit on the lower side, and 5 lobes. Flowering: throughout the year.
