Dry forest, woodland, grassy areas, roadsides and disturbed sites. Widespread.
Annual or perennial herb, mat-forming, weakly rooting at the nodes, prostrate or to 0.2 m tall. Stems more or less hairy. Leaves alternating along the stems, 1-4 cm long, 7-10 mm wide, hairy to sparsely hairy, deeply dissected with linear lobes which are again lobed. Flower heads white to pale yellow, 4-6 mm in diameter, hemispherical, with many florets, 0 petals. Flowers Winter to Spring.
