Shrubland, and often in open areas without shade. Widespread.
Annual herb, sprawling to prostrate, stems to 15cm long. Stems and leaves fleshy. Leaves opposite each other, 0.07-0.32 cm long, 0.5-0.8 mm wide, surfaces hairless, margins finely warty at least towards the leaf tips, the leaves of each pair united at the base to form a ridge round the stem, tips rounded. Flowers cream tinged red, with four petals each 0.3-0.5 mm long, shortly fused at the base. Flowers in clusters of 3-12 flowers.
