Dry forest and rocky sites. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands, south of Ulladulla.
Shrub to 2.5 m tall. Branchlets triangular in cross section to winged, hairless. 'Leaves' scattered, 4-37 cm long, 2-10 mm wide, linear, grey-green, hairless; midrib prominent, venation obscure, tips pointed or blunt, bases continuing down the stems. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, standard petal yellow to orange, with red or purplish veins radiating from a ring surrounding the yellow centre, 5-8.5 mm long, 6.5-9 mm wide, keel light red. Flowers in umbel-like clusters of 4-7 flowers, 1-3 clusters together. Flowers Winter to Spring, rarely in April.
All species of Daviesia have 'leaves' that taste bitter, and hairless triangular pods.
