Forest. Parasitic on Eucalyptus, Angophora, Corymbia, Brachychiton, and a range of other plants. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands, north of Tilba. Coast and ranges on the Victorian border.
Mistletoe, spreading to hanging down. Runners on top of the host bark usually present. Fruit fleshy. Young shoots and flower clusters brown-hairy, otherwise hairless. Leaves alternating up the stems or almost opposite each other, 4–16 cm long, 6–45 mm wide, leathery, green; tips rounded. Flowers yellow to red, 25–50 mm long, with a curved tube and 5 lobes. Flowers in 5–20 flowered clusters. Flowers Nov.–Mar. Fruit yellow to red, oval, 10–15 mm long.
Often the host of the mistletoe Notothixos subaureus.
