Dry forest and woodland. ACT and tablelands. Occasionally on the Western Slopes. Mainly in Vic.
Shrub to 1.5 m tall or sprawling. Stems appressed hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, moderately crowded, 0.3-3 cm long, 0.3-0.5 mm wide, not spirally twisted, surfaces hairless or sprinkled with white hairs. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, Standard petal orange or yellow to pink with red markings, 5-8 mm long, wings often red to brown. Individual flowers stalked. Calyx abruptly narrowed at the base. Flowers in clusters of 1-10 flowers.
In all species of Dillwynia, the standard petal is much broader than long.
