Woodland. Known only from near Bowan Park, Trunkey, near Abercrombie Caves.
Shrub to 2 m high. Leaves with sharp pointed tips. Stems appressed hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, moderately crowded, 0.6–1.8 cm long, about 0.5–0.9 mm wide, rigid, triangular in cross section, usually hairless, stalkless. Standard petal 5.5–9 mm long. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, yellow with red markings, keel red. Calyx 3–5 mm long, hairy, the lower teeth much shorter than the tube, abruptly narrowed at the base. Flowers in 2–10-flowered clusters. Flowers Aug.–Nov.
In all species of Dillwynia, the standard petal is much broader than long.
