Dry forest. Coast and ranges north from the Clyde River.
Shrub to 1 m tall. Stems hairy with minute hairs. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.15-0.4 cm long, narrow, twisted spirally, tips curved and pointed, surfaces warty and hairless. Standard petal 5-7 mm long. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, yellow with red markings, in 1-6 flowered clusters. Flowers most of the year.
In all species of Dillwynia, the standard petal is much broader than long.
