Swamp heath on sandstone. Ranges and the eastern edge of the tablelands between Morton National Park west of Milton and west of Jervis Bay. Also in and near Newnes State Forest east of Lithgow.
Erect or spreading shrub to 0.5 m tall. Stems hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.7-1.5 cm long, linear, tips usually curved, pointed, surfaces smooth, hairless. Standard petal 8-10 mm long. . Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, yellow with red to dark markings. Flowers most of the year. Flowers usually paired, tightly clustered to form a globular head.
In all species of Dillwynia, the standard petal is much broader than long.
