Forest, woodland, heath, grassy areas, roadsides, coastal environs, disturbed sites, and stream banks. Coastal. Sydney area away from the coast and the Blue Mountains.
Introduced perennial climber with stems to 3m long. Young stems densely hairy; older stems sparsely hairy. Leaves 6.5-20 cm long, alternating up the stems, compound, with 3 leaflets, each 3-10 cm long, 10-70 mm wide, more or less hairless, lower surface paler. Flowers pink to mauve or pinky purple, rarely white, 10-17 mm long, pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel. Flowers in many-flowered clusters to about 25 cm long. Flowers Winter to Summer.
