Forest and heath. Coast and ranges north from Sussex Inlet.
Shrub to 1 m high, spreading, often prostrate. Leaves alternating along the stems, 1–3.5 cm long, 2–8 mm wide, hairless or sparsely hairy, margins sometimes irregularly toothed, bases extending into wings on the stems. Flowers male, female, or bisexual. Flowers with 0 petals, and 4, rarely 5, sepals, 2–3 mm long, falling early. Flowers single or paired.. Seed case 4-winged, 10–15.5 mm long, 9–12 mm wide, hairless or sparsely hairy; wings 1–3 mm wide, leathery.
